What is Captain Reef?
Captain Reef is an independent summer vocabulary adventure — built for practice, discovery, and motivation. Learners explore themed islands, meet new words in two languages, and lock them in through play. It is enrichment, not an exam platform.

Pick an explorer identity
Choose a friendly preset nickname — Coral Captain, Pearl Diver, Desert Rose — and an avatar. No real names are ever typed in.
Choose a difficulty
Easy, Medium, Advanced, or a Mixed Challenge. The same island can be replayed at a higher level as confidence grows.
Visit a themed island
Open the island map and sail to a topic. Each island holds thirty words organised from simplest to most advanced.
Study the word cards
Flip through cards with the English word, Arabic meaning, part of speech, a clear definition, and an example — with read-aloud in both languages.
Play and practise
Match meanings, collect shells, build sentences, type recalled words, surf synonyms. Mistakes are gently corrected, never punished.
Earn badges & a certificate
Collect shells, climb the six explorer ranks, stamp the vocabulary passport, and print a certificate when an island or the full voyage is complete.

How progress is tracked
Progress is designed for learner reflection and parent-supported encouragement — never remote monitoring. Everything is calculated and stored on the device the child is using.
What is recorded
For each explorer, on the same device:
- Islands visited and islands mastered
- Words studied and words marked as known
- Best accuracy in each practice game
- Shells collected and current explorer rank
- Badges earned and passport stamps
How mastery is decided
An island counts as mastered only when its words have been studied and a real quiz reaches 80% or more — so the progress bar reflects genuine accuracy, not simply opening a screen. Words you find harder are quietly scheduled to return for review.
Printable progress evidence
The progress report, vocabulary passport, and certificate can all be printed or saved as a PDF — a simple, shareable record of summer learning a family can keep, with CEFR vocabulary coverage shown clearly.
